True Grit Training Courses

Asbestos Awareness for Buildings and Construction Projects

Accidently disturbing asbestos in a building could put occupants at risk, cause costly construction delays and result in Ministry of Labour orders. In this course our unique hands on approach helps participants recognize building materials that could contain asbestos and understand and use asbestos management programs.

Respirator Awareness and Fit Testing

Personal protective equipment is the last line of defense against airborne hazards. To really get the protection you expect, you must use the right respirator and make sure it fits. The course includes a qualitative fit test for each registrant.

Confined Space Hazard Recognition and Atmospheric Testing

Provincial and federal health and safety laws require atmospheric testing before entry and work in confined spaces. To be competent, air testers need the knowledge, skills and experience delivered in this course. In our practical session, participants test known and unknown atmospheres using their own multigas monitors (i.e. with sensors for Oxygen, Combustible Gas/Vapours, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide).

Lead Awareness for Buildings and Construction Projects

Lead is a toxic substance regulated in Ontario under occupational health and safety, consumer protection and environmental laws. Exposure to lead must be controlled during construction, renovation or demolition projects involving buildings with lead based paint or other lead containing materials.
